The IMPACT Program
IMPACT is a six-week, motivational life-skills program for adolescents. Designed specifically to help teens get in touch with themselves and learn to deal with life's challenges. The program inspires academic improvement, builds self-esteem, and enhances interpersonal connections. We encourage parents and students to set personalized goals, which we then integrate directly into the program to enrich their overall experience.
- Psychosocial Education
- Process Groups
- Individual Mentoring
- Parent Support
Additionally, for the last several years, we have been conducting evidenced based research to evaluate the program effectiveness. Our findings consistently demonstrate that the program has definite and positive "IMPACT" on our student's lives. Parents often express surprise at how quickly these changes occur. We believe our students already possess the impetus to change and aspiration to reach their potential. We just help them connect to it.
Who, When, and Where
IMPACT is designed for 6th-12th grade boys and girls and takes place at various schools throughout the South Bay. Students are grouped by age and gender, allowing us to tailor the psychosocial educational component to current, specific, and relevant aspects of their lives. Our method has proven highly effective at empowering our students to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Groups run an average of 45-60 minutes and during the six-week program, students receive one or two individual mentoring sessions, typically lasting 10-20 minutes in duration. Parents planning and feedback meetings are usually 20-30 minutes long. The method for student selection is often a collaborative effort between parents, students, and school personnel, but ultimately determined by the school/district.
